After a long waiting, the way at state level is cleared for aspirants of degree lecturer posts, who previously required either Ph.D or to clear the NET exam at national level conducted by CSIR/UGC. Now the Andhra Pradesh government announced the State Level Eligibility Test, APSET to serve the same purpose. The notification and other details of APSET 2012 can be found at apset website. This page is intended for the candidates who wish to clear APSET in chemical sciences. I noticed many government teachers, junior lecturers and other PG degree holders who completed their graduation long time back want a helping hand since they lost touch with the subject at higher level and unable to prepare seriously for this exam due to their busy schedule. I started this page to help them. Even though this page is created for chemical sciences, the suggestions are equally helpful to aspirants in other subjects. Now, the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to conduct APSET Examination in the interest of large number of aspirants for recruitment as Assistant Professors/Lecturers through direct recruitment or by promotions in universities and degree colleges in the state and also to facilitate the candidates to appear for the test in Telugu medium. This test is going to be conducted twice every year.
Note: For chemical sciences the APSET will be conducted in English medium only.
This test (AP-SET) is based on the pattern of the National Eligibility Test (CSIR/UGC-NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR. The State Governments and Union Territories, who wish to conduct the SET are supposed to obtain accreditation from UGC from time to time.
The APSET will be conducted in objective mode. The exam will be conducted in three papers consisting of multiple choice questions and will be held on the day of examination in two separate sessions as under:

There will be sixty (60) multiple-choice questions of two marks each of out of which the candidate will be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate will be evaluated.
Paper-II: Subject Paper : This one consists of multiple- choice questions based on the subject selected by the candidates. The paper will consists of fifty (50) multiple choice questions. The candidates will have to answer all the questions. The candidates will have to mark their response for each question on the computer coded optical mark reader (OMR) answer sheet provided along with the test booklet
Paper-III: Subject Paper (in depth questions): This part consists of multiple choice questions based on the syllabus of the subject selected by the candidates. It will consist of seventy-five (75) multiple-choice questions. Paper-III of all the subjects covers all the specializations of that subject in which SET is conducted.
Paper-III of Chemical Sciences covers all specializations such as Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Marine Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, & Bio-inorganic Chemistry.
* A candidate who does not appear for Paper-I and Paper-II will not be permitted for Paper-III.
* There will be no negative Marking.
* The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in Paper-I, II and III as given below:

| BC | 35 (35%) | 35 (35%) | 67.5 (45%) rounded off to 68 |
| SC/ST/PH/VH | 35 (35%) | 35(35%) | 60(40%) |
Note: However, the cutoff marks for CSIR-UGC-NET exam are different. And there is negative marking in the NET exam.
The syllabus for chemical sciences is same as NET exam conducted by CSIR & UGC combindly. For the details of syllabus in chemistry, refer: CSIR NET chemistry page
The best suggestion to crack any exam is to go through the textbooks written by authorities in the respective fields. Following is a list of textbooks in different areas of chemistry. Actual list is very vast. But it is better to go through only few books that are followed by our universities and IITs and those which are the best in the industry.
The next step is to solve the previous year question papers. I compiled some questions from previous year question papers and solved them with thorough explanation. You can get these solved material at study material section.
